I like his "Apollo" album, but it is super subtle for sure. I really like his first 4-5 solo albums though. A mix of electronic textures and glam rock kind of works for me. Probably a dumb question, but, have you tried "Another Green World"? It's definitely less subtle, but really beautiful in places.

I'm also late to digging into Brian Eno. I find that I enjoy his early 70s stuff but not his recent ambient stuff. The early stuff feels adventurous and experimental while the newer stuff feels like it was phoned in. My ambient ignorance may be in play, though.

He's probably better as a collaborator/influencer/producer. I could take or leave his ambient stuff but his fingerprint is on a lot of major albums. Bowie and Byrne were pretty vocal about it; I've always viewed him as a good "ideas" guy

I had to go back and find out who they were after seeing the end of their show that night. Picked up their album shortly after. Then became a fan of all their satellite bands like Metric, Stars, etc. "Anthems..." is such an odd track. More of a mantra than a song, but, somehow it works.

I know they don't always all play together at the same time, but, can you imagine how awesome it must be to have the vocal talents of Emily Haines, Amy Millan and Feist at your disposal? That's an embarrassment of riches for sure.

the one thing that bugged me about the glow pt 2 was that annoying drone that hit through almost every song on the 2nd half

haha I know exactly what you're talking about. I always thought it sounded like a boats horn off in the distance. God I love that record so so much. Got the 3xLP release they did the day it came out.

the album is good, everything else is pretty good,

just that long fog horn kinda hurts the 2nd half

though a bad 2nd half is very often with me

Fair enough. If you genuinely like the music there is nothing wrong with that. I've learned that bad people make good art sometimes.

i mean he makes music that i genuily like, loud, but personal, can go from hardcore yelling to heavy introspection,

if only he didn't assault a woman, we almost had an artist made for me that is one of a kind, but he had to sticky pudding it up
