I know very little about Lord willin but I know it's probably not like hell hath no fury

Hell Hath No Fury is darker than Lord Willin'. Don't know if I'd say experimental but the tone is overall more serious and sinister in comparison to the relative playful attitude of Lord Willin'. But it's the same rappers with the same producers talking mostly about the same stuff, so they're really not THAT far apart in the grand scheme of things.

Grindin' blew my mind when I first heard it. That was the most experimental "mainstream" thing I had ever heard at the time. So stripped down yet so complex.

        Maybe I'm just used to
Pharrells sound or I listen to a lot of weird shit but because neither albums are that experimental, though I feel I prefer the more.. intimidating sound if HHNF (wamp wamp is practically a threat)

i mean i would not go listening to a tribe called quest or diggable planets after these..

but i certainly likes these albums. and would probably enjoy more stuff like it..

especially "everythings fine" and songs like "PROM/KING" where saba is on some immortal technique shit

Creating and crafting more can only help you hone your craft. Even if you can't find your distinct "sound" yet, just working through a trial-and-error process will do infinitely more help towards finding that sound than anything else

my current idea is mostly something similar to say ambient noise or house music mixed with the lofi loud soundcloud rap for a weird noisy textured sound and oh crap i think i accidentally just described clams casino

        and now... nitpicks

cardis loud bombastic voice she puts on most of these songs just kinda annoying at times.. it why i prefer songs like bartier carti and ring.. where it feels more subtle

also are we really making latin trap a trend, i mean i like the song, but it feels like its gonna be dated in a year especially with the featured artists

its not even the flow.. its just her voice.. its almost like she is semi yelling.. not a hardcore yell like soundcloud rap, but not really the standard speaking trap of a gucci or a ludacris

This may be splitting hairs, but, I've always found the key to writing is finding your voice. Your true voice. To me, that approach is different than shooting for a specific standout style. Sometimes when you do that, you wind up losing the thing that makes people want to read your stuff. Most readers can see through artifice. Don't force it. Be true to your voice, and I think you'll be just fine.

I'm only lukewarm at best on Beach House as a whole, but the couple singles from the new one have grabbed me - the latest one sounds like maybe they've been listening to some Mew in their downtime.

As a huge fan, I think (hope) it will be their most dynamic and diverse album, if not necessarily their best. Dark Spring is one of their biggest and most divisive creative departures yet, and Dive is one of their most psychedelic (and best) songs, so that’s encouraging. A lot of bands offer diminishing returns by their 7th album (*cough* Wilco: The Album *cough*) but BH at least sounds inspired and reenergized.

From the singles I heard, especially dark spring and lemon grow, this it's already easily my favorite album from them as it's been marketed as their darkest, most diverse, and in my mind, most emotionally resonant

This and the new grouper are my easy more anticipated albums right now
