I'm in........no questions asked, lol
Dude I listened to this album while driving around last night and it gave me many feelings. I loved it. I don't connect with the gospel lyrics much, but the music.... good lord that woman can play and sing.
@GritNGlitter it's coming!
@mcherry Thanks again for the reminder. I've ordered inner sleeves so I'm ready!
Welp. That Aldous Harding album just clicked for me. That took several more listens than any other album has. And I think it was the tiny desk video that made me persevere. But yes, it clicked finally and it is beautiful.
Artists/albums like that tend to stick longer for me though. I HATED St. Vincent upon first listen but now she's my favorite.
I didn't like St. Vincent until I saw her live with my boyfriend (a big fan who tried to convert me for like a solid year at that point to no avail). Perception changed after the first song. I was wigless.
Same here. Wasn't a fan til I saw her live. She is a guitar goddess up on that stage.
I think her music is so like... raw and aggressive sounding a lot of the time. It's kind of confrontational and off putting. She sings like a helium balloon over instrumentation like hard guitars and the star trek theme. It's weird as shit. But I LOVE IT.
Oddly, I think I first heard of Sister Tharpe a few years back when The Black Lips or Bradford from Deerhunter posted this video on their twitter. Sweeeeet lawdy that guitar breakdown starting at 1:25!
What songs off the Slits release should I listen to if interested? Also, @thestorfer when is this getting an exclusive?
Gonna look into this. I love that record
Quick Rosetta Tharpe deets: Partnered with the label that bought vinyl rights on this to bring y'all as an exclusive. Never been pressed before to vinyl. They'll be doing some black vinyl, but I think it won't be till after we do ours. Will have all the deets in an article on the site on Wednesday via an interview with the label when we open the store.
I'd be interested too cause I've never herd this record and can't find it anywhere
Whoa I didn't expect anything on that. I'd be so happy though. I don't think it's ever been pressed? But I could be wrong.
JK, according to discogs it has been pressed but not since 1981 lol.
I love Romeo Void! Make it happen!
y'all. sister rosetta tharpe. never listened until today. this woman is incredible.
does anyone not #BOTS have their store flyer handy with the pressing details of it? particularly price and quantity?
The pics of the flyer I have seen don't give many details, limited to 1000 is the only thing I saw on there
Hmm... might grab that WOD bundle and the Slits
EDIT: Just saw that there'd be a Rosetta Tharpe
Going to be my most expensive month yet for sure...
