Don't know how MD gets included in the Northeast as it is below the Mason-Dixon, not to mention official assignment as part of the South according to the Census but whatevs...
(I'm assuming this as D.C. is included here and Bmore is north of that.)
Anyway, figured those of us in the land of Mary should have somewhere other than the district threads to post things.

I hear Beach House is playing Pier Six. Anyone going?

I would really love to see Explosions in the Sky play Merriweather Post Pavilion but I'm not too keen on them opening for Death Cab For Cutie. I don't hate Death Cab, they're okay, I just don't feel like spending money on a Death Cab show. If I left early, would I be missing out on something?

I've never seen them so I'm really tempted. But hubby is also iffy on the Death Cab part. We'll see.

I like Death Cab. I don't love them. New album was Meh, right in the middle of good and bad. But explosions tempt me to go as well!

explosions are INCREDIBLE live; i've seen 'em a bunch. saw death cab once or twice years ago and they were fine. nothing special if you're not super into their music. you could always stay for a song or two and bounce if it's eh. /threadjack (sry it came up in my unread and i wanted to give a boost for how great eits is live!)

I'll be down in this area next week. Not really in the city proper, but west of it. Is there any record stores not too far from the I-83 / I-695 / I-95 corrider that would be worth visiting?

I'm from DC, not Baltimore but there are a few good stores in DuPont circle in DC. It's all I know hah

If you can get into the city, The Sound Garden is a good store, located in the Fells Point area. On the northern side of the city, in the Hampden neighborhood (close to I-83) there's Atomic Books (where John Waters has his mail delivered) but they're mostly a book/comic store with a beer bar... but I did a Record Store Day once a few years back and it was small but still got some good stuff. Another place in the Hampden area on Falls Rd is a place I've been meaning to check out called Celebrated Summer Records. Hampden, by the way, is a great little neighborhood, cool stores and restaurants. The main drag is 36th street.

More in the suburbs, up in the Towson area, Record & Tape Traders which is nearby 83/695. In historic Ellicott City, another great touristy place to go but not super close to those interstates, is The Archive. Relatively new, small, but I've had some luck there. Trax on Wax in Catonsville isn't bad and it's right off 695 on Frederick Rd.

Other than that, I'm still figuring my way around the stores out here. Hope that helps.

I don't know if there's anyone out there in Baltimore looking for the indie blue OkComputer anniversary release, but I just got back from Soundgarden in Fell's Point and they have about 30 copies in stock.

    Just giving a heads up!
