We are silent in this forum...

What are the best shops in the southeast for when folks go out travelling?

I am a big fan of Chaz's Bull City Records in Durham NC

and I need to check out Carolina Soul, also in Durham.

(There are links if you are on the new style forum)

This place is amazing if you are in the Atlanta area.

The guy who runs this shop is amazing too. Loves to talk about music, make incredible recommendations (helped me discover Kenny Burrell), and is just so down to earth it's perfect.

Yeah this Southeast forum was a little stagnant.

I just added Ella Guru to my list- hadn't heard of it!

I typically go up to Sweet Melissa Records in Marietta, just north of Atlanta. They do a great job of scoring the condition of their used stock as well as organizing it. They also have a $1 bin and a $3-4 bin right outside, in which they refuse to sell anything that scores below a 7/10

not surprising you hadnt heard of it; i drove past it twice a day for 6 months and never noticed it. i just happened to go to a restaurant next door one night and noticed the dollar record bins out front so i had to stop in and boy was i surprised. theres nothing special about it as far as rating conditions or keeping a catalog online, its just an amazing shop run by a damn cool owner. my guess is he is retired and just opened this shop as a hobby (i keep meaning to ask, we just always end up talking about the new records he has in).

    Seasick Records - Birmingham, AL
Wild Honey Records - Knoxville, TN
    The Groove - Nashville, TN

Nice Price Records in Raleigh! Those Durham shops are quality as well.

I'll have to check them out next time I head that way. I only really went to Edward McKay in Raleigh after I got the tt. A lot during the move!

So Fat Cats closed up here in Boone and I have to work Saturday anyway so I guess I won't be involved in RSD (641 RPM does exist but wasn't my store of choice here).
