You may hate me for this, but I found this ad for the two releases the other day: https://www.trojanrecords.com/vinyl-me-please/

And I think that kind of detail is fine for Essentials/Classics/RHH records. But the majority of items in the store are going to be exclusives and regular pressings where VMP isn't going to know in excruciating detail all of the ins and outs of pressing. For stuff where VMP was involved in the production of the record, sure, talk this stuff up in the description. But what I want to see in a product page revamp for the store is some standard info - i.e. what pressing am I buying, who mastered it, where was it pressed, etc. That information is better presented in a list/table.

Yeah, that's fair.I guess I was thinking for more specialty stuff, but, yeah, a good, long list for stuff in the store.

Yep. Because they have revealed details of the process and care they take in the recording. Plus, it is the only way this music is available. If it said, "We cut the files from the same stream you get on TIDAL," I'd pass.

Exactly. I would just add "true" exclusives like the Max Roach and LARB to your Essentials/Classics/RHH list. I certainly don't expect that (or frankly any other info) for their curated list of lps in the store.

Well, I do worry about the sources for some vinyl, but not so much in VMP's case, and I guess I just like having physical copies. That last point is fair, though. Also, even in a couple cases even if the source is going to be digital, sometimes the vinyl might end up being the best master available, just because the original release was digital and might never have been mastered properly in the first place…

I don't think you can ever go wrong with Ben Webster. He is one of my favourite sax players and I have yet to find a bad recording of his. That being said, I wouldn't say 'Gone with the Wind' is a must have. There are a lot of albums of his that I would consider more essential. But if I was you, I would stream the album on Spotify or look it up on Youtube and see what you think.

I don't own this pressing btw, so can't comment on the sound quality etc.

I discovered Ben Webster through this Club, I love his music and while he is not my favorite sax player, I agree with everything speedracer says here.

I do have a copy of this and it sounds great and is the high quality product I have come to expect from Org and Black Lion.

So, any tips for fixing the too small center hole on MEC? Most of the time I can force them a bit but can't even do that with this one.

I usually take a knife or one side of scissors and rotate it slightly, for a second, in the center whole to make it slightly bigger.

@craigdino just chimed in over in Rising with utility knife working too.

Whatever method you use be sure to blow off debris and give it another clean before playing. You don’t want to create an artifact!

I'm going to echo the opinions of other posters on here. Ben Webster was a saxophone titan, one of the most influential tenor players of all time and certainly one of the first true innovators of the instrument. Up there with Coleman Hawkins and Chu Berry. He's got such a conversational tone yet he could be blisteringly fast.

GWTW isn't essential but it's splendid.

It is my understanding that a-b is having less to do with functions of the store and focusing more on curating the store

It seems like they are responding more in the 24-48 hours
