I don’t think it counts. It’s a leak. We got the artist but we did not get the album.
Yeah, I agree. For all purposes though, I think guessing the correct artist should count for this month.
Does it? Storf said we’d probably get the artist; seemed far too easy given the social media help we got from Cam early on.
I love that cover - and I'm totally on board with any African music from that era. Really looking forward to this.
I saw that on the supporting band's IG. Ethio-Cali, one of my favorite LA bands. Wodem is pretty good also. They are part of a great Jazz/Latin/African scene in LA all of whom play lots of free concerts in the summer.
We were bound to find out though before the announcement date. I seriously doubt that they would get a simultaeious announcement from The Echo, Now-Again, Vinyl Me Please, and all the other social media accounts of the bands involved just to protect a guess thread on a forum.
They have tried in the past to coordinate announcements
They really should just go ahead and announce this one on the 16th at this point.
U2, Zoo TV Tour Toronto Exhibition Place 1992
super jealous, but I would have been too young to appreciate it seeing my first concert (that I remember anything about) was POP (http://www.u2gigs.com/show956.html) I only really remember them coming out in the lemon as we were at the very top and the arch actual covered most of the screen (which is amazing when you know how big the screen was) (also I have been to every U2 since then)
I’m old I have a hard time remembering things. The first concert I remember going to was Lock Up Opening for Sea Hag at the Thunderbird in Jacksonville Nc
It could have also been the Vienna Boys Choir at the Kennedy Center.
It was pretty amazing, there were a LOT of screens... The Exhibition was a pretty ghetto venue to see a concert, sitting on freezing cold metal benches up in the bleachers in right field, crazy crosswinds blasting you in the face periodically. But the kind of place that after you'd sat through a 2 hour show there you KNEW you'd seen a concert.
I have it on DVD, I think that tour would have been my favorite
For someone whose first ever cassette purchase was a tough choice between U2 "The Joshua Tree", and Loverboy "Get Lucky". Eight year old me, in my inimitable wisdom, chose Loverboy. With this album cover to boot...
So I'm pretty proud of managing to pull off Zoo TV as my first concert. Things could have very easily gone horribly horribly wrong on that front...
And just for the record my SECOND ever cassette purchase was U2 "The Joshua Tree" so... at least I got that sorted.
The only concert I ever saw at Exhibition Stadium was the first Lollapalooza. It was an awful place to see a show.
My first concert - Feb 12, 1996 - OKC. Bush with No Doubt opening. I had never heard of No Doubt before that show. I was in love with Gwen Stefani afterwards, hehe.
I went to a lot of concerts with my parents as a young kid but this is what I consider to be the first concert I actually CHOSE to attend ... Weird Al at the Greek Theatre 1985 https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/weird-al-yankovic/1985/greek-theatre-los-angeles-ca-23d7bcb7.html
"First Concert" (I was like 10 and didn't want go) was nysn'c with pink opening. Little brother was obsessed and I couldn't cry my way out of it. Awful time.
Real first concert was Roger Waters when he was doing Dark Side of the Moon. Now that was a proper first show
