Similarly great, with Bruce as well, is Prison Grove.
More Springsteen on Broadway tickets drop next week.
@DavidA , how did you enjoy your show last month?
Well, there's a moment in the show when he's discussing his parent's move from Jersey to California which left a 20 year old Springsteen on his own, crashing on friends couches and getting into scrapes and such. It was heartbreaking and exhilarating to listen to. Absolutely gripping.
It's worth every penny.
For me it was the story of him going in the bar to get his dad as the intro to My Father's House.
Love Bruce Springsteen and you can kind of say I grew up with his music as I remember him being on rotation on MTV a lot when Born In the USA and Dancing in the dark came out. Actually I found a gem mint original copy of Born in The USA at goodwill as well as a copy of THE RIVER but my Fiancé took Born and put it in her collection.(Trust me I’m still salty about that!)
Was just saying I don't need to spend any money until RSD, I only own lucky town so I imagine I'll bite on this
Backstreets is his best IMO. That entire album is perfection.
My top 5 albums by the boss
1. Born to run
3. Born in the USA
5. Greetings from asbury Park
Vol. 2 arrived today. Listened to Tunnel of Love of first side of Human Touch so far. Good stuff. Better than most everything else from that period.
Hey @DavidA and @fritzg
Been there, done that. Arguably the best live show ever.
The Agora show has the definitive Rosalita with the snippet of The Village People’s Macho Man.
So, on a lark this morning, after playing the new reissue of Guthrie’s Struggle, I played my cd of The Seeger Sessions. And now I’m listing to Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ which I have an MP3 of (and Oh boy is the sound thin on this thing). Anyhow, think I’m gonna have a Springsteen day. Pulled out all my CDs and Vinyl. Gonna stroll through them chronologically and see how far I get. I also noticed that The River, Lucky Town and Human Touch are all I’m short for a mixed media complete studio albums, so I guess those are the ones I need to actively look for. Only Born to Run (my first Springsteen that I had on a cassette that an Uncle gave me), Nebraska, Born in the USA, Tunnel of Love and Chapter & Verse on vinyl to date.
Also, is there a better run of albums by anyone than E Street Shuffle to Tunnel of Love?
Astral Weeks-Veedon Fleece! But that boss run is incredible
In case anyone missed it....Netflix is going to live stream the last Springsteen on Broadway show...
“We are thrilled to bring Bruce Springsteen – a master storyteller, humanitarian and voice of the everyman – to Netflix in this historic one-man show. This groundbreaking experience defies the boundaries of theater, concerts and film and will give our global audience an intimate look at one of the biggest cultural icons of our time,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement.
Guess I know what I'm doing the 15th
That's awesome! I've neglected the Boss in my vinyl collection a bit, but wanted to see this show really bad. So I'll be "Virtually" sitting next to @MattS on the 15th
From reading the Netflix press release:
It sounds like it is just a film of Or about the show (my money is on “of”) that will have its premiere on Netflix on December 15 which happens to also be the last night of the show’s official first run.
Netflix would probably not pick such a high profile project during the extended holiday season to test a live stream which is something they have never done and will almost certainly result in crashes of Epic proportion.
They actually filmed a show sometime in mid-July for the Netflix special.
