I should probably get into Animal Collective. Despite STGSTV being my favorite album, I've genuinely only heard it and MPP (plus select tracks from Strawberry Jam and a couple solo albums from the boys.)
Maybe I'll buy the new Feels reissue :cautious:

Feels is still my overall favorite. Can't go wrong there. But I'd also suggest listening to Strawberry Jam in full, then Sung Tongs. Those three records right there should very well introduce you to their best material. Then since you know MPP, you can just go forward from there because at that point things get much more electronic and busy and weird.

This, and definitely give their EP Fall Be Kind a listen too. It’s quite excellent

I’m deep in an AC hole and I don’t want to get out.

Tonight I worked out and listening to some stuff by them. Turns out Brothersport totally rules in this context. Floridada does not.

Sometimes I really like Centipede Hz. It needed some time to grow I think.

Anyway, one of the most underrated/under-appreciated songs on the LP, and in all of AC's catalog is "Mercury Man." I had written it off for so long, but now I love it.

Also found this amazing cover of it:

I love working out to Floridada! Well, running, specifically. And I don't mean to say I love running. Because I do not; running is awful. But if I have to run, I love listening to Floridada while I do.

Got my copy of Cows On Hourglass Pond today. Anyone else listened yet?

It's really hard to have a general opinion on the album with one listen. There seems to be so much going on. Mostly my takeaway is that it sorta brings Down There and Eucalyptus together sonically. It also has the tightness (in terms of length) of Down There, which I appreciate. I liked Eucalyptus, but it does feel too long. This one doesn't. It has the oddities you want from Avey Tare, along with some catchiness, and thumping bass in places. Other than that I can't say how I feel totally just yet. Definitely won't be for everyone, but I do feel coming at this from a pretty big fan of Avey's solo stuff, I think it continues the quality for the most part. I look forward to diving deeper and figuring it all out/figuring out how I truly feel.

Ya know, listening to this though, I think it makes me really realize that Avey's solo stuff as a whole is stronger than Panda Bear's. Look, I love PB. Person Pitch is one of my favorite albums of all time. But I think Avey is more consistent and doesn't get the credit he deserves solo-wise.

The new Avey Tare is exactly what I want from late era AnCo.

I like this slightly more than Buoys, but I'll still take Pandas entire solo career over Aveys, although both are great.

Avey Tare goes track-by-track on Cows On Hourglass Pond:

    https://consequenceofsound.net/2019/03/avey-tare-cows-on-hourglass-pond-track-by-track-stream/

I especially like his description or meaning of the closer "HORS_":

"...I saw a horse playing with a giant rubber ball in a small pasture while on a train across the country. I could see the excitement and playfulness in its eyes and to this day it’s one of the more captivating visions that has stuck with me. An ode to Horse."

This new Avey Tare album might be the best thing to come out of the AnCo guys since the Fall Be Kind ep

Whoa. That's high praise. I gotta listen to this thing again. Hoping to do that tonight. I already do find myself wanting to go back to it.
