Mm Jungle juice
Yeah, doesn’t look like it’s been posted, but if it’s just a punch I guess I’ll stick with the Bourbon Milk Punch (recent fave for winter).
Okay, so this is gonna sound really random, but I've been trying to figure out where I recognize your screen name from. I think I've figured it out.
Yessir! In Shreveport for the holidays at the moment, actually.
YITB also, right?
YITB! 583 here.
Sure is a small world.
So, uh, anyone willing to post the Mavis recipe? I'm sure I can translate it to some sort of cocktail.
I can tonight, it wouldn’t be hard... just use hard cider. Regardless that’s a lot of cocktail you’ll be making.
A great pairing for the ROTM. Very complex flavors.
1 oz. Campari
1 oz. Vermouth
1.5 oz. Vida Mezcal
Orange peel expressed as garnish with large ice cube.
Just made with the Vida. Just perfect. If anyone is exploring with Mezcal, Vida is a nice starting point. It’s a bit pricey but very high quality. It’s easy to find. And it’s well balanced (code for not too smokey).
Bump because now that the weather is turning I’m getting more motivated to mix drinks again. Cheers!
I need to get Campari. After we finished off the last bottle (3-4 years ago?) we never got another. I think my palette has broadened a bit so I should give it another try.
My dad's cousin drinks Campari. It's got a pretty bitter taste from what I remember. She once explained that she liked it due to the fact that nobody ever tried to steal her drinks because they didn't taste all that great. We were celebrating Christmas one year a few decades back as she described her Campari thought process, and I'm sitting there thinking, "you're a middle aged woman...what parties/events are you going to where people are trying to steal your drinks? I mean, are you attending the Beach Bash at the Sig Ep house or something?"
Yep, very bitter. I wasn’t really a fan so when my bro in law finished it off I was done with it. But I’m feeling generous with second chances.
Yes, it is very unique/strong flavor. I'm not sure if I am a huge fan myself, but I am willing to give it a try. I do need to try other cocktails beside the negroni, though. Here is an interesting list that has several drinks with a sweeter side to them and they all look good for a refreshing spring drink!
Thanks for the link! I think I’ll pick up a bottle this weekend.
I love a good negroni or campari gin fizz.
Campari and grapefruit la croix
I am gonna drink so many Americanos this summer.
When it comes to Campari cocktails I quite enjoy the Jasmine:
It's just gin, lemon juice, and campari. It's very grapefruit-y The above recipe uses Cointreau, but if you don't have any, it's just as fine using all Campari instead.
Also, if you want a twist on the Negroni, the boulevardier is the same thing, but with rye whiskey; it's a lot less summer-y and more winter-appropriate than its gin counterpart.
This makes it sound like I know my cocktails, but I'm pretty much useless outside the vermouth/gin/campari/whiskey nexus.
