Yeah I had a real hankering to give tubes a go. I also like the idea of tube rolling a couple of years down the line!

I don’t know much about Onkyos but if that what you have to have and you can save to get it keep on living the dream!

There's very little for the money that gets close to that. Don't forget to check the ex-dem and trade in lists on the various UK dealers too though.

So, if I wanted to change up the tubes on my Rogue Audio Sphinx v2, what would I get?

If Svetlana makes the ones you need, take a look at those. An unusually positive example of Russian intervention in American affairs.

I really like Gold Lion 12AU7 for about $100/pair.

    These are Russian.

fwiw I feel like I read it makes a lot less difference on the Rogue than you might expect.

It's not night and day, but there is a difference.

    ahh.

    *quietly looks at tubes*

The folks saying it makes the most difference seem to be running Klipsch speakers, perhaps because they’re spending so much time at the bottom of the Rogue’s output.

I do get noticeable fuzz with the included JJs. Maybe something else would lower my noise floor.

Now Machu Pichu & The Inka trail, that is undoubtedly one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen!

    And yeah big understatement!

Not one for incremental steps here...

I just hope it doesn’t give me speaker itchy feet, I’d like at least a year, preferably two, saving before I cross that bridge

I wasn't fond of the stock JJ tubes. They are inexpensive and sound inexpensive.

I had an A-9010, and it worked out well for me. Great starter amp - I'd recommend it for what it costs.

Boy, y'all, think what you will about the 2M Bronze, it's a hell of an upgrade from a Rega Carbon. Sold my old table and cart to a friend, and we spent yesterday evening swapping the Bronze to his P1.

Hearing the same carts on two different tables really underlines what a huge difference a cart makes. It was like night and day.

I'd expect that. The Carbon is a rebranded bottom of the line $20 A/T.

I keep finding new ways to be underwhelmed by the Rega P1.

So, Santa is getting me the Onkyo. Thanks Santa. Only other thing I’ll get is a Bluetooth connector for it.

Well this put a damper on the day :(

Elusive has a replacement for $30 any 16.5 owners have a source with a better price before I order one? Thanks in advance :)
