So I'm 90% certain that March's Rap & Hip-Hop ROTM or March's Essentials ROTM will be an 80's Rap album as @Storf said that if we liked 80's Rap, we will be happy for the first quarter (3 months) of 2019!

Looking very forward to seeing what will be the March Rap & Hip-Hop ROTM :D:D:D

I'm going to guess Jungle Brother's "Straight Out The Jungle" for March's Rap & Hip-Hop ROTM :)

Urban Legend is TIPs best work imo, but King has his best songs on there. And a ton of nostalgia for 11 year old me. I'd be excited for either. I must have played What You Know about 1000 times that in '06.

I'd be shocked if it was Chamillionaire but wouldn't complain. That's another record I geeked out on as a kid. Especially the bonus track, Grind Time:

That bonus disc (besides the Turn It Up Remix) was absolutely incredible. Severely doubt it as well but would be so incredibly ecstatic if Chamillionaire was picked. Still to this day have him high on my personal favorites. People imo tend to underrate his rapping/storytelling ability because he is essentially a 1 hit wonder.

@Jmcg85, I think we can rule out Stankonia as @Storf mentioned that if VMP did it, it would be as RotM.

Yeah we ruled it out. It's the only one in the "Not It" section so we need to add more from our list to that now with it

You can also rule out Nelly for being from St. Louis (not dirty Souf) and Jon Doe because lol if I actually guessed right with an obscure ATL producer.

Gotta say that I'm pretty impressed with this list. Really only not that familiar with Big Moe and Little Brother (heard some but haven't really kept up with it at all). Seems like we should be getting a really good record for February. I'm excited to get another clue to narrow a little further.

So I never really thought about this but does NC get counted as south / dirty south for music? I'm not even sure what I would classify it as because for example, I don't think I've ever thought of J. Cole as a southern artist

definitely some great choices. I would also kill a man to get a proper version of Illmatic. remastered and 2xLP. It's beyond me how this albums keep getting shitty repress after shitty repress. Midnight Marauders and Low End Theory need quality versions as well.

Yeah it kills me not having Illmatic or 36 Chambers on vinyl but the reviews on them are bad enough that I don't even bother

I have 36 Chambers on 180g vinyl and it's just okay. Some of the tracks still sound sad. I ended up with an OG copy of the cassette and it sounds way better so I know the vinyl can be improved(the RSD tape from last year also sounds like complete garbage). I went through 2 versions of Illmatic before giving up. I've since sold both even though it pains me to not have a copy. I almost bought an original press from my friend, but he confirmed that it also had distortion issues. If I can find a decent price on a cassette I'll grab one for sure.
