Good pick. Never heard of this band until a few weeks ago when people started speculating. I am now a fan. Thanks VMP!

I have no clue about this band and no expectations. It seems like an amazing package and I'm excited to give this record a listen! I might go in blind this month and wait for it to arrive

Their last album was great. I'll go into this one blind I think.

    RT!

Their first album is 2LP with only 2-3 songs on each side and it's really annoying to listen to because of that.

I love Glass Animals' debut album so I'm definitely excited for this - has potential to be my favorite AOTM this year. The vinyl color choice is strange, though. I imagined a dramatic red/orange marbling.

Records really have to solidly over an hour for this not to be an incredible annoyance. The CSH album just makes it work at 70 minutes.

I just looked up the first GA album. It's 45 minutes. HOW IS THAT 2 LPS!!!?!?

I'm really trying to keep an open mind with this one. Definitely not my scene. Lapsley wasn't my scene either, but I appreciated it and it grew on me.

My extremely judgmental first impression is that this sounds a lot like the lame, culturally appropriated f*ckboi party jamz that popped-collar salmon shirted dudebros drove around blasting in their mom's Escalades back when I was in college, albeit slightly more creative. Probably super unfair on my part. I'm going to keep listening and try and change my own mind.

Are there any particular songs that Glass Animals fans recommend checking out?

Just bein' honest about my first impression, which was very not good. Totally open to check out any of their work & learn about where they're coming from as a band.

I listened to 'Life itself"(because I have no self control) and I was super blown away by the music, the drums are awesome and the guitars and other instruments pull it all together. If only it was just an instrumental album though because I am not a fan of his voice. It's very generic and doesn't stand out the way the music does, his vocals seem out of place to me.

I'm looking forward to hearing more and getting to experience the whole thing, hopefully his vocals grow on me.

Not my thing either. I'll try a couple of more times, but ugh. This is looking like a swap.

For those who are on the fence and don't care about going into the album blind, I believe this comes out Friday, so you can check it out on Spotify or something and decide if it's something you want. I plan to go in blind though.

I vowed to myself that I would never swap, because I really respect what VMP does and I think every album deserves the minimum of 3-4 listens, as they recommend. But I don't know if I can handle this. For my introverted 32 year old mind, the connotation I have with this kind of music is viscerally negative. I'll definitely research the band to see where they're coming from, and listen to the whole album on Friday. No offense to VMP or the band.

Based on the gif, does the record just sit in the right side of the jacket with a window to see the record when you open the gatefold? No inner sleeve?

Also, since we ask every month, what's the weight of the vinyl?:p

edit: the youtube video shows the inner sleeve, but doesn't show the record being taken out of the gatefold jacket....hmmm

Yeah, I noticed that too. I was kind of hoping for the video to show that part.

Did anyone else catch the blurb in the email about their Spotify Sessions show being recorded and put on vinyl for VMP?
