I am posting this simply as a greeting to my fellow Minnesotans! I live in Uptown Minneapolis. It looks like nobody has posted here in a little bit so I am just saying hello!

@Nova @Darin Star Boogie and anyone else are you thinking about heading out for RSD - Black Friday this year? If so, where's your spot? I don't usually go out on that day. I'm not one for crowds or lines but might go this year.

i usually hit up cheapo in st. paul. maybe head over to barely bros and agharta if i’m feeling adventurous. i will say, agharta always seems to be able to put out some used stuff that i don’t see in shops very often.

Do you find Cheapo usually has what's available elsewhere? I assumed EF would probably have the most stock and variety.
I don't know about Barely Bros.
I like Agartha too. I think Mill City Sound is the spot I like best so far but as a St. Paulite I'm not driving across town to Hopkins very often.

I usually hit up Mill City Sound in Hopkins just because it’s the closest to me, 15 minute drive up 169N from Shakopee, and I am also a member there so I get 10% off on all purchases there. This includes the RSD purchases.

Plus they usually have coffee and snacks on RSD day. In April they had hot dogs as well.

Cheapo would be dope though. Does the one on Lake in Uptown still exist? Or is it just the St. Paul one currently still running?

I was over at MIA a few weeks back and I think I drove past Cheapo and it was still open.

Hmmm maybe I need to become a member at Mill City Sound?

If you’re interested, it’s $20 for a full year. And the 10% discount includes everything in the store. New releases, cleaning products, sleeves, etc.

Sometimes there are exceptions though. They just had a dollar sale two or three weekends back and I was unable to use it on those, but if you frequent the store monthly or bimonthly it’s worth it.

I’m there a few times a month now, used to be multiple times a week but since I’ve become a subscriber of VMP I have less spending money.

But I just generally like the people and selection there. Definitely my most frequented record store in the Twin Cities area.

Electric Fetus and Hymies are next in line. Haven’t frequented Cheapo since I lived in Uptown circa 2012.

yeah, cheapo will have the same variety, they’re pretty good about ordering the releases and try to cater to what they know their regulars will want (i’ve always been able to get phish and dmb, for example). the fetus will just have larger quantities.

the lake store moved a few years ago over to around 26th and nicollet as the uptown space was sold to make more apartments and retail. :/. there’s one in blaine still, too.
