    Hey!! Welcome!!

So far I have had no customs charges but I’ve also not bought from the store, only got my subscriptions so I don’t know if they count for customs as you could argue that you pay for the subscription and the records are in effect “free”. Also, like the vast majority of sellers from America they put a nominal value on the customs form so it can slip through customs.

If you want to order lots from the store I’m probably not equipped to answer you, @panino or @DMacanT are better bets

    Welcome @apassant

I’m going to quote @panino (thanks in advance buddy) on this as I found one of his responses on another thread before one of my own.

if you're quoting me, you MUST be right!
    ;)

    and yes, @apassant welcome!
knowing that VMP will reimburse me off all potential custom costs is definitely a bonus of this club (you just need to let them know and provide copy of the invoice, that your postman will provide you).
To date, my packages have been stopped twice, and in both cases the Customer service has timely reimbursed me.
I had voluminous boxes in the last 2 months (10 records approx) and got through custom with no issues.

my biggest negative so far is the slow shipping... it takes between 2 and 3 weeks to get the package (if more than 5 records) because of a required stop at Germany DHL headquarters.
For smaller packages, where the standard mailer is used, it goes a bit faster as it flies directly US to Ireland.

Thanks @JoeMac7 @DMacanT and @panino for the detailed answers and the warm welcome!
I don't plan to get lots shipped outside the monthly packages, so that's good to know (esp. re the "0 cost" of ROTM). I believe I'll go ahead then :)

@panino do you have a link re. custom costs reimbursements? As I found conflicting information on their privacy page http://www.vinylmeplease.com/privacy-policy/

I got mine last Wednesday! No sign of package yet, processing completed in the US but hasn't left there yet. Would assume delays what with July 4th being last week!

    hallelujah baby Jesus!

    my shipment notification just arrived.
now, it'll be sweating through the standard 20 "en route to distribution centre" updates until it arrives here, hopefully the day before I'll leave for the holidays!

Yeah same as. Processed on the 9th and completed at origin since 11th. That said there generally is a week between that and arriving here or with the Teutons every month so maybe we’ll get something more later today once the Americans wake up...

Going on holidays Sunday for two weeks, so I wont be best pleased if this box doesnt show up today/tomorrow

On a side note, what record shops do ye like to frequent? Any hidden gems in the city with a decent used collection? Feel like the used vinyl market isnt so hot in Ireland

my box is in Athlone today!
I can assume/expect/hope in a delivery next week.
@PineapplePhantom --> i would contact VMP to inform them of your missing in action box, as it left the US one week prior than mine!

and regarding used records in Ireland.... I believe these are terribly overpriced, comparing to what is available in the US.
A bargain bin here has records from 10 € up, when their real value is definitely below.
I visited a while back the new "used record shop" in Dun Laoghaire and left terrified by the terribly inflated costs...

I live close to the Blackrock market where there's a small used record stall....
again, nothing for less then 10 and standard releases go for 15 up.....

Yeah mine is showing as arrived in Ireland as of 9am today. Usually means they’ll try to deliver it tomorrow so I’ll leave work tomorrow in time to get out to the depot before it shuts at 7 lol.

I’d definitely be onto VMP at this stage @PineapplePhantom i think my box was dispatched the same date as @panino pretty much a week after yours.

I’ve only bought second hand at Freebird in town, they’re really good with qc on used records and I’ve seen stickers detailing faults before now. I agree though that used are overpriced here, and actually in the U.K. too when I’m back visiting, and so I tend to mainly buy new unless it’s something I really want or that might be out of print.
