You sold me on it, too. Bottoms up, buddy!
Some modern West Coast Get Down for you. Ronald is Thundercat’s brother and one of Kamasi Washington’s two drummers. This is his solo effort from last year much of it from the same sessions as The Epic:
Oh cool, I saw Kamasi and his band, and Thundercat and his, at WOMAD last year, both were spectacular. The dual drummer thing was remarkable to watch/hear. From memory Thundercat's drummer was amazing too. But then he would be
pre-order Nerija's debut EP here. Nubya Garcia is part of the band. It's great, kind of a mix of jazz and afro.
Another member of Nerija debuted her own project (The Seed Ensemble) on Friday. Went to order it on the Sunday and it had already sold out. Bummer!
Ah brilliant! They actually released the EP a while back but it sold out;
As for the Seed Ensemble they are selling it quite a few shops so you should be able to find one somewhere. I picked up a copy at the Launch Gig and they mentioned it would have a general release in shops across london.
Edit: Ignore my first bit, it was the CD version which sold out.
I hope I'll find it in France, these 8,55€ shipping to France are a deal breaker, it goes up to 22,54€ shipped, a bit too much for 4 songs.
If it’s on Domino it should be (more or less) widely available.
Just came here to also post this. Good looking out.
It comes with an instant download of the EP as well which is always nice.
For anyone that hasn't yet I'd implore you to check out Rosie's 5ive. Great set from Rosie Turton who is also in this band.
Need to ban myself from listening to any more new music and work through the ever growing backlog of albums and EP'S in my list!
It's the same EP as that sold out CD
Yeah, my bad I didnt explain it very well. I initially thought this was a repress of the sold out vinyl but then realised that it was a CD.
KAMAAL vs. WU-TANG (SNIPS RE-EDITS)
Bloody hell, Colonel. Bringing the fire with these. I particularly dig the first and third ones, I feel a wee spend about to take place.
Ironically, #2 (BROM) was what hooked me to even look further.
For my untrained ear, I connected it to a mixture of Tool & Ornette Coleman.
Not gonna lie, you were the first person I thought of tagging. But me knowing you knowing me, I knew you'd check em out
Any suggestions where to start with Evan Parker albums? Noticed he was in that line up for the Machine Gun album. Actually met him after a Binker and Moses show a year or two back - seemed a really nice fella
I find this album really fun to listen to but the list price is a bit dear ( I don't see anything less than 33€). Will VMP be doing an exclusive since they previously seem to have done collars with tidal waves. @Storf
If anyone finds this cheaper please let me know.
Think they just have the standard release in the store this month.
Wow also pricey!
You can pre-order it from Balades Sonores for 29€...plus shipping :/
You have it good, 10€ shipping kind of kills it for me. Will just go for the black one hopefully it goes on sale at one of the retailers here eventually.
Edit: do you know of any other balades sonores exclusives or a promo code?
Ooooor you can come and visit Paris? I take you to some nice record shops, you spend a lot of money and you save 10€ in shipping
