    Hello Forum!

I'm new to the forum, so, apologies if this same question was recently answered. I am in the market for a new turntable (<$200) which I can use with my Yamaha RX-V483 receiver. My old one was "lost" in my last move. Any direction would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

A turntable greater than $200? That shouldn't be a problem.

I was hoping for less than $200, but there is wiggle room.

Haha, I wasn't sure if it had been that long since high school that I was mixing up the symbols myself.

I have no experience with them, since they have no presence in Canada, but this forum pretty much unilaterally recommends Uturn tables at that price point. Good entry-level table with decent upgrade options for the future. https://uturnaudio.com/

Right?! Once you said it, I had to look it up because I always mixed those up. Haha... thanks for the advice.

If you go for the u-turn I get missing some of the upgrades off to keep as near to your budget as possible but whatever you do don’t leave out the cue lever, those things are more than worth their weight in gold!!

Any thought on the preamp, whether it should be separate from the turntable or built-in?

There’s a few people with those tables around here and the general consensus is don’t get the built in whatever you do. If you have a decent amp with a phono stage maybe start with that until you have the $250-$300 to consider a mofi studiophono or a Vincent pho-8, that’s when you will start to notice a difference.

I'll give it a read-through, for sure... thanks. I had a basic Crowley "suitcase" turntable, but I want to upgrade and I left it in Florida (neither the product or the state I recommend revisiting).

A “Crowley” table. I’m totally gonna refer to those infernal machines as Crowley’s from now on. :ROFLMAO:

Yeah I agree definitely, I have the Esprit SB version and wax lyrical about it whenever given the chance. It is a fair bit above the $200 budget though lol.
