I’m running my first guess thread after over three years as a member! Woot!

First rule of @mcherry’s guess thread: you keep track of your own guesses. The search function works just fine.

P.S. I know we pretty much know Dec but I don’t care.

    Leading artist fun facts:

In honor of my 10 best duets piece here’s one of my favorite duets albums but left it off my list because it’s a various artist comp: Boy Meets Girl. A 2xLP released by Stax in 1969, it’s a huge comp featuring the Stax roster. Mavis sings on 10 duets. My favorites are the ones she sings with William Bell.

Here’s an internet pic. Still looking for a decent copy.

Huh, Mavis Staples? I'll say "Only for the lonely".

I'd be perfectly happy with a 45 minute album of Mavis Staples telling stories.

So it appears Gary Kramer formerly of Atlantic Records signed both The Staples Sisters and Billy Dee Wiliiams to Jubilee Records...

    Also:

Soul legend Mavis Staples has announced a new album titled If All I Was Was Black, which is produced by Wilco‘s Jeff Tweedy. The two have been collaborating since 2010’s You Are Not Alone, which won a Grammy Award for Best Americana Album.

Not new news by any stretch but... Wilco connection?

Wouldn’t be surprised if we get an exclusive variant of the new one.

Hal David co-wrote "A House is Not a Home" on Mavis' self-titled debut

    or

David Jordan co-wrote "I Have Learned to Do Without You" on Only for the Lonley.

Mavis Staples is (likely/definitely) December?! Insert Godfather 3 reference here because that is also the month I renew my yearly subscription. All in for Classics.

I think we can assume at this stage that it's Essentials based on the format of Storf's whiteboard. Also, last year, Sorcerer was the December Essentials RoTM, so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary to have another reissue of a classic 60s release for the December Essentials RoTM.

I wasn't super clear w/ my post - I'm stoked for Mavis Staples but I'm also generally all in for Classics (two separate exclamations). I should not respond to anything online right when I get home from work.
