So, first of all I want to say a few things. Even though it won't directly effect this guess thread, this month is still an experiment as there will be a separate guess thread for R/HH when we get hints for it. Classics was expected to have one as well, however, the September ROTM has leaked.
    1. Though I have no expectations or even wants to completely eradicate tangents from this thread, the vote that resulted in the separate threads was close and made even more light of the fact they need to be reigned in. If I feel tangents are swamping out actual album discussion, I may attempt to prod people back on topic.
    2. Have to double check this, but I don't believe store credit is still being for the first correct guess, so feel free to post a list of everything you can think of that fits. Nevertheless, I'd like for you to keep it around one or two of your “official” guesses, preferably with some justification, to keep discussion going. As a matter of good sportsmanship, guesses for any month besides September 2018 will go unentertained.
    3. Rather than having two threads for a given ROTM, guess and discussion, this thread will move directly to being the ROTM thread on announcement day, and this post will transition to being an information post for it.
    4. I was going to say a fourth thing, but right now I don't remember what it was. Have fun! I guess…

For my first guess, I'm going to say Kate Bush's Aerial. The way I see it, this album is one of her masterpieces and something of an artistic counterpoint to Hounds of Love, both in mood and structure of the album, down to complimentary color schemes. On the topic of the cover art. the cover for this, though elegant in a sense, is somewhat minimal by her standards. Also, “still living” implies to me that this person has been around a while; that she is is an interesting point. Maybe it's not that surprising considering how she takes care of herself, but she's nevertheless been around a while.

Conunter-arguments: You could probably make a better argument for The Red Shoes, from it needing a better vinyl master to subjective takes on the cover art of the two albums. I'm more-or-less going for Aerial because it seems to be both more desirable on vinyl and the one comprised of the most unobtanium. This may all be moot however, as there is a rumor her catalogue will be reissued in November, and in someways if this turns out to be true, doing a ROTM seems unlikely, or even unwished for. Also, as I said, her being “still living” is not very much of something to wonder at, particularly since she's not even retired. All-in-all, I may be setting myself up for at least a little disappointment with this guess.

Could it finally be Songs for the Deaf? Cam mentioned it in the AMA. Maybe a subtle hint?

Edit: Nevermind, didn't RSR the 2nd hint.

@Phaneronic it might be better if you sum up the hint and then link to where it came from instead embedding it

I'm gonna guess Control by Janet Jackson. I'd consider that one a huge get and it's been OOP since it was released.

I'm going to just throw something completely random out there: Mariah Carey S/T from 1990. For a debut album to sell 15 million copies is something pretty remarkable - almost as much as her vocal talent. Is she "still living"? Surprisingly so after the NYE debacle. As one of the biggest female artists of all time, this would be a huge get. I'm not sure how stoked people would be on it but who knows? I don't know that I've seen much 90's pop come through VMP.

Those have both been re-issued recently, though?

I'll add another guess, but this isn't a solo album, but instead female fronted.

Siouxsie and the Banshees - The Scream.

The last LP reissue that came out for this was back in 2016 and it was a pic disc. It hasn't been reissued since 1979. S&TB are re-issuing a lot of their albums in the coming months, but The Scream was never listed anywhere as far as I know. The only problem with it I see is why would the album art need to be changed for it???

I'm not going to say "When The Pawn" by Fiona because it's never been out of print. And "Extraordinary Machine" was reissued a couple of years ago, IIRC.

So I'll go with Bachelor No. 2, by Aimee Mann.
And if it's this, I'm marrying VMP.
