It’s about a friend who died of AIDS. So definitely not his intent.
Humm I didn't even get that. I thought is was just looking back at past heydays. I'll have to listen again. I do like Face The Truth though.
Apparently Verve was the only label that would have them.
Record Club will be on a break till Friday. Will have a new title picked.
Now that i am off school, I can dedicate more time to this thread. Will be back to regular updates (Hopefully).
This weeks pick is
My Bloody Valentine- Loveless
I've never heard this, its shoegaze right? I've been getting into some minimal ambient stuff recently and been meaning to listen to this one for ages, so good timing here.
This is THE shoegaze album!
This album is really two albums in one. Play it quiet and it almost works as a soothing ambient balm. Play it loud and it tears your face off. It is phenomenal
I'm looking forward to this one. I know some of their stuff (like the title track) but have never taken the time to listen to the complete album.
New album to me. Looking forward to it.
I would describe this as more maximal ambient, lol.
This is a really great read on this album if anyone's interested in some of the lore behind it.
Just finished it, its much more lively than I thought it would be haha. Really good though, looking forward to a second listen perhaps when I'm more focused on it.
I just realised it looks like there was meant to be a link or something here, the bottom of the post is blank for me?
It's an Amazon link to the 33 1/3 book on Loveless. Having trouble getting my phone to access Amazon AU at the moment, so not sure if it's available over there.
New pick this week is..
David Bowie- Blackstar
One of the best final albums ever made!
Just to get this out there before I listen to this album. I am not a Bowie fan. Just never got that interested in his music enough. Listened to the first few seconds on my work computer and stopped it because after that I realized this in not a casual listen type of record.
Nope. It's one of his more avant-garde releases. It also focuses heavily on the theme of mortality. Especially Bowie's.
I love Blackstar.
Given my appreciation for free jazz I’m into this album.
Anybody know what Ormen is?
And what do you think he means by Blackstar?
