Now that swaps have closed, how's the stock looking on Buddy Guy? Will it last until March swaps?

Thanks. I really love my job and thankful to be somewhere where I get well compensated for it and can have an amazing quality of life.

And, yeah, teaching in the US seems quite variable. I'm friends with some teachers from Alaska, and they feel they are fairly paid, but I've heard some horror stories from teachers in other parts of the US about having to get 2nd jobs and sub-optimal teaching conditions.

Just some feedback for you to pass on to the team:

The packaging on Donald Byrd - Stepping Into Tomorrow is fantastic. It's a shame that Griffin and Charlie Rouse had such thin sleeves (both of mine arrived with a split) and were not gatefold.

Eddie Gale was also really perfect so I'm glad to see the Blue Notes given the special treatment again. Would be great if you guys can keep it up for the rest of the "series".

Alaska has the highest paid teachers of any state. :)

There’s room for improvement in certain areas.

My wife and i are expecting baby #2 at the beginning of June.

Paternity leave consists of one personal day for the actual birth, then I am allowed THREE DAYS of acclimation before I have to take unpaid leave. Barely even enough time to get him home and introduce him to our daughter. Not to mention what overnights will entail those first two weeks.

Dads count. I just wish that was more accepted.

Endnote: it’s going to be real, real interesting trying to teach elementary music through one bloodshot eye as the school year winds down, if he comes on time. Best I can hope for is he comes late like his sister did.

That's shitty. Fathers are entitled to 5 weeks in Quebec. My work benefits also give parents up to a full year at 80% salary (that's combined, so 6 mo each father and mother or any other combo, if they both work at this place). My GF doesn't work at the same place as me, so I could have taken a whole year. I didn't - I took 5 weeks because that's what worked for us, but the option was there. Makes a huge difference because moms are usually quite exhausted in those first 5 weeks. I mean, I was beat and I didn't do half the things she did.

That said, best of luck to you and your wife!!! Congrats!

I mean, they haven't exactly been given a big incentive to join. 2 metal exclusives in the past 2 years and a lackluster metal curated section with like 5 titles that rarely gets updated? Seems to me like there's room for a little more effort there.

Between the family leave, rent control and childcare subsidy, Quebec had got to be one of the best places to raise a family in the world. That's in addition to the benefits of raising a child in a bilingual society.

    @Storf

Using the pitchfork rating system(out of 10, Decimals allowed), what do you give the new Jamila album?

I know people like to shit on my enthusiasm for records around here as "inauthentic" or whatever, but I mean it when I say it: Of all the music I've heard that's coming out this year so far, this is my favorite album.

@Storf, not necessarily related to AoTM's, but more to exclusives...

Is there any system to how the numbered exclusives are shipped out?

    I ask for two reasons:
    1. There have been times where I have slept almost too long on one and ended up with a low number
    2. I have, at one point, needed a replacement for my exclusive because of a defect. The defect was in the 700's, but the replacement was in the TWENTIES.

Is it as random as I think it is, like, are they shuffled by hand or some other wizardry?
