    Hello all!

I'm super excited to talk to you about a new thing we're going to bring to the world called "The Spins"

Essentially we want to bring the VMP member experience, and the forum experience, into the real world and create a monthly event for you and us to hang out, listen to vinyl, enjoy a tasty beverage, and just have fun.

    So!

Here's the plan. We're going to be reaching out to bars/coffee shops/record stores/venues ... basically anywhere thats rad in your local community to host a monthly vinyl night. We will support the venue by providing vinyl and other stuff to give away, raffle fashion. The mechanism is simple- buy a drink, get a raffle ticket. End of the night the bar will raffle off whatever we have that month to raffle. Raffle is a funny word, raffle...heh.

What do we need from YOU!

Well since we're making this for YOU we want to know what local venues you think would be ideal for this. We prefer bars cause it's easier but are open to creative ideas and connections. We hope to have this going on at 30-50 venues across the country by end of year, so don't think your town is too small. Let's start "The Spins" threads in all the geographical sub threads that already exist. We also have a friend helping us out, @Brittany NO FOMO , so she'll be coordinating along with @green.bean .

In addition to local help out, we want to have a digital social component for those people who can't make it to an event or are hermits (me). We'll have a common hashtag for Instagram and the Tweeters so everyone can hang there too and get rowdy. Let's get some national trending hashtags rolling!

    YEARG!

Love this idea! I've been thinking about approaching the local swanky restaurant/bar and asking them if they would like someone to do a night like this. They have a full bar and could make the cocktails and such. You're looking for a place that would have all the gear (turntable, etc.) ?

We have to be selective but we have a # of U-turns we can supply if the venue doesnt have a TT. And any bars you think are great we can help with intros and information, we have a whole bar facing deck built

The owners of a "local" record shop, Radio-Active Records, are good friends with the owners of Gramps. I say "local," because Radio-Active Records is in Fort Lauderdale, a 40 minute drive from the Miami Arts District, aka Wynwood. In fact, the owners of Radio-Active DJ on their Technics during the weekends.

BSP Kingston has a "Open DJ" night and I think they would be receptive to the idea. Kingston has a core of rabid indie rock fans. This is a great venue and their front room would be great for this. Full bar and couches and such.

This is north of NYC in the Hudson Valley. The Hudson Valley is the new Brooklyn :)

    Two more Miami suggestion:

    Churchill's
    http://www.churchillspub.com/

Churchill's is a staple of the Miami Punk Scene. And they're next to the best record store in Miami, Sweat Records. Sweat has hosted events at churchill's and vice versa.

And one more place for good measure:

    The Globe
    http://theglobecafe.com/

The Globe regularly holds jazz nights up-front and has a Steinway tucked in the corner. It's a great spot. It's also where I spend most of my Friday nights, so there's that. There's a backroom to hold events.
