What are your favorites? What are some classics that have stuck with you through the years? What are the catchiest of the catchy 8-bit tunes that refuse to escape your brain? What do you wish they would press on vinyl?

I saw that the Banjo-Kazooie OST is getting pressed (link), so it got me thinking about all the other greats.

Final Fantasy will always be my favorite. I don't have any of it on vinyl. I've heard the pressing isn't that good, and it's way out of my budget anyways. I think @Phillip J Phry has the Banjo-Kazooie OST...

Annnd I just realized there is an "Everything Video Games" thread in Miscellaneous. Would this be better suited for there?

Pokemon Silver/ Gold have some of the most beautiful chip-tune tracks I've ever heard.

Earthbound soundtrack will always be my number one pick, but you can't go wrong with the Secret of Evermore soundtrack.

Also Watchdogs had a pretty good soundtrack too....been meaning to pick it up.

Some favorites off the top of my head.

Banjo-Kazooie // I even picked up the vinyl pressing of it. It's also one of my favorite games ever, so I HAD to get it.

Hotline Miami 1 & 2 // All of the tracks from the artists are great and really fit the game. Also picked up the 3xLP pressing of HM2.

The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind & TES5: Skyrim // I like Morrowinds more because nostalgia beats it out, but I really like Skyrims OST. Male Choruses are just so damn good! Oblivions was okay, but it just didn't resonate with me as the others. Jeremy Soule has done a fantastic job with the series and I CANT WAIT till TES 6 comes out, whenever it does.

Some current games I've been playing right now that have great soundtracks

    Shovel Knight

    Undertale (OMG SO GOOD!)

Speaking of Bethesda, the tracks & score for Fallout are fantastic.

Looking forward to hearing the Fallout 4 soundtrack. Bethesda always delivers when it comes down to soundtracks.

I do have it, and I gave it a listen this weekend. Not only my favorite game, but also my favorite soundtrack from the N64 era. Sounds pretty decent for a pressing of a digital album.

Gonna be a long post, because I love this topic. I think this is a good thread on its own. I love all the soundtracks/scores for the games mentioned so far, and yes, I've played them all.

@RP912 I'm glad you mentioned Watch Dogs. That game left a sour taste in my mouth - I got the game breaking glitch that took them months to fix. That being said, this soundtrack is fantastic, and I recently discovered that it's available on vinyl, and for cheap. Gonna pick it up in the near future.

@Kris FFVI is in my top 5 to this day, and the music is stellar for a SNES game. The same can be said for a lot of SNES rpg's - FFV, FFIV, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound (coming next year on vinyl!!!), Seiken Densetsu, Breath of Fire, and on and on. I'm also blown away that these games could deliver the amount of music they did, along with the vast amounts of gameplay hours on such limited resources.

@Mitchell the Pokemon soundtracks have been consistently good throughout the whole series.

I'm going to be writing reviews for game soundtracks in the near future. I think they want vinyl reviews primarily, so if you know of any that aren't listed below, I'm open for suggestions!

    Already Own:
    Hotline Miami 2 OST
    Banjo-Kazooie OST
    Shenmue OST
Bioshock 2 (from the special edition)
Earthbound (won't ship until next year.

Vinyl I know of / To Buy (hopefully withought going broke):
    Halo
Halo 2 (please note the space, it's not THAT Halo2)
    Watch Dogs
    Perfect Dark
    Battletoads
    Brutal Legend
    Castlevania
    FarCry 3 Blood Dragon
    Final Fantasy (lots of versions)
    The Last of Us
    The Legend of Zelda
    Red Dead Redemption
I see a bunch of Japanese pressings on Discogs, but most of those look like they would be very difficult to find.

With how music-centric Bioshock Infinite was, I'm really surprised it hasn't been pressed yet.

    These covers...so good...

The soundtrack for Read Dead is incredible. Those few times when the tracks with vocals come in are some of the best moments I've experienced in a game.

That Orcarina of Rhyme album you linked to may be one of the greatest mash-up albums ever
