Welcome one welcome all. Tell us about your diets of the wax! Share with us your struggle!!!!

so, the guys with the big rigs have convinced me to upgrade.

Phase one will be a U-turn orbit plus and a preamp. @blujay and @HiFi Guy are keeping an eye out for deals for me and as I get closer in dollars I will start deal searching too.

@NotOneStraw says I can't stop buying records long enough and my impulsiveness agrees with him. However, I really need a better setup.

So, I just preordered my last preorder until after I upgrade.

I am going to go through my receipts and list out everything I have on order to keep me honest.

I will also limit my record purchases until phase one is complete.

I will limit purchases to the following items:

    1. My VMP renewal and therefore my album of the months.
    2. VMP rising - I named them and moved to complete my set this morning, so one a month shouldn't break the bank
    3. Bombadil should be announcing a new album very soon and I will be purchasing that.
    4. In the off chance that Punch Brothers announce an album, I will not be passing up on my favorite band.

This should be a significant decrease in my vinyl accumulation. I will consult discogs on average monthly figures, but I guess I have been getting around twenty. So cutting it down to ~2 is a big deal.

Also, as I look at my final buying spree the last couple of days, I must admit @NotOneStraw is correct, I could have had a nicer set up a few times over. Change is hard and Trent Reznor is important to me. We make the choices we make.

I am going small on the upgrade because I want to learn about all the things that make a great set up, this will help my decision making when I decide to upgrade again.

Set aside for phase one as of today is $100 (I will two broke girls style update this total periodically.

Even a "small" upgrade is huge over the LP-60.

yeah, the intervention was definitely needed. Looking at discogs, at 8 months I hit the bolus of my original collection of about 75 records. I had those prior to March 2016. Since that bolus of entries in Discogs, I have bought on average 31 records (titles - there are a total of 5 box sets in that figure) a month. 250 in 7 months. 396 as of today. smh.

How old are you? 12?! ;) Why are the in-laws giving you CASH?

What an odd gift for adults to give each other.

I mean, yeah, I would say double plus good to anyone who wants to send me cash, but it hasn't happened since I was a kid. Gift cards I've seen, but cash, no.

Some people are just born lucky, I guess!

Lee I think I'll be joining you, in a way.

I tend to buy vinyl on impulse 80% of the time/long-looked for hunting the other 20%. I plan on cutting out the impulse buying until I have in my possession a Rogue Pharoah amp. For example, I almost took the plunge on the Kinks mono boxed set (for a ridiculously nice price, shipped), but instead I reached out to my sponsor (@HiFi Guy duh :p) and now that money is in my amp fund.

    Good luck!
