I'm heading to Portland next week, and hoping to hit some shops. I've been poking around Yelp, but am looking for suggestions for must visit records stores. I prefer Indie Music, good deals on classic stuff, and don't mind looking through lots of bins

    Thanks!

2nd Avenue Records, Mississsippi Records, Little Axe Records, Clinton St Records, Music Millenium is where to start. Everyday Music, Green Noise, Exiled Records and Jackpot Records should finish you off. I could list every store but these are my favorites. Enjoy!

Thanks for the great list David. My new to vinyl collecting son and I had a great time trying to get to as many as we could in 24 hours!
On Tuesday, we started at Everyday Records, and went searching unsuccessfully for Jackpot Records downtown (looks like it's been closed down).
We then went to Hawthorne District and hit the main Jackpot Records, Exiled Records, and Crossroads Music and CD Game Exchange (for my other video gamer son)
Then on Wednesday morning we hit 2nd Avenue Records (saved the best for last)
I think we picked up something from each of them except for Crossroads.
Each store had such different personalities, and selections, but they were all excellent.

Sufjan Stevens, Elliot Smith, My Bloody Valentine, David Bowie, INXS, Radiohead and Sigur Ros all came home for a spin
    Great trip!

Since I have to drive up from Salem, I usually miss out on 2nd Ave. Parking is usually a pain down there. I hit the 2 Everyday Musics, then hit Crossroads. I like that they have multiple vendors so I usually find a lot of good stuff. Then I hit Exiled and usually find the best stuff. Jackpot isn't as good as it was 10 years ago and I only go there once a year or so.

I'm heading up this July, any recommendations on shops that skew towards post-punk, goth and industrial by chance?

    Thanks!

Hey Portland! I’m going to be in your city on Friday. Any shops I should hit? What places to eat during the day?

Those are some serious questions man. I hope you were able to Hit Everyday Music either on Sandy or on Burnside. We are a food city and that is a really hard question to answer.

If you are here for the weekend and want to get some serious recommendations, private message me and I will for sure give you some advice.

Hope you are enjoying your stay!

My plans changed at the last minute. I ended up in the Sea-Tac area instead and am now in Yakima, WA.

Sadly, no. The schedule change also took out all of my extra time to get out of the truck and into shenanigans.
