Would KILL for this! Listening now (it just dropped at midnight) and it's super sweet so far.

Also I'm DESPARATELY hoping out for Saba as this upcoming month's choice. Do we have any leads?

Room 25, what an album, blown away.
Any news of a physical release?

Asking myself the same here. I'm about to embark on my first listen, but Noname is one of those artists I would preorder going blind.

Dare I say it's better than Telefone?

I'll tell you if I agree in an hour or so

    Edit: Ok, here's my take

The added instrumental nuance is great. The jazzy foundation of Telephone is still there, but the strings, funky basslines and casual electronics take the beats to another level.
Some of the features I love, some I don't. Specially the singers. I think some of the hooks are just a bit too pop, I think I enjoyed the soulful singing of Telephone better.
The album has some great moments, but there at least a couple of tracks where the initial tone and surprise is brought down. These aren't bad tracks, but after the first 3 tracks I was like: wow, this album slaps! But then she fails to mantain that emotion throughout the album, at least to me.
It is very good. On the same level as Telephone. Only repeated listens will tell which one I like better.

I love the album, it's as good as Telefone for me and I love how Noname is more front and center on this one. Lyrically she's on fire across the whole album. Well worth the wait and it will likely rank high on my year end list.

Room 25 is an amazing album and I just found out that she will be coming to Tallahassee (saba voice: TALLAHASSEE SUNSHINE) in January and I'm so excited. I saw her at the Hangout festival and she was just the cutest. She taught us all to sing along, and though she forgot the lyrics to a couple of her early songs (she was rolling p hard p evidently) she had such a good energy she was absolutely mesmerizing and entertaining the entire time.

I work at V89 (FSU's student radio) and there's a good chance I may have to table the event. Maybe I could get her to sign my copy of Telefone!

Literally listening to this album is like getting to know one of the most magical black girls. She has such an effortless confidence that makes lines like "Y'all really thought a save me Oprah Winfrey couldn't rap huh?" come off as a self-assured jest among buds idk idk idk i love her and this album.

It's a lil early but this and US Girls' are probs my AOTYs. There's probs some other contenders but I mean I still return to Telefone after all this time and suspect the same will happen with Room 25. The lyrics / themes / messages that Noname has to offer (and unrelated but also that US Girls has to offer) really really resonate with me. It's so exciting to hear a fresh perspective in hip hop. I cant think of anyone who is doing what Noname is doing right now, and Lauryn comparisons aside - she may be more talented (bold statement i know... but I mean revisiting the themes / messages of Miseducation and they definitely feel dated and uhh... idk not as great or as insightful as they maybe felt at the time) OR at least have the charisma to have better staying power.

I hope our girl gets the attention she deserves. I'm tired of being expected to care about Nicki/Cardi beef when there is a plethora of females out here making music that actually... means something???

Omg guys, I can’t deal with how spectacular Room 25 by Noname is!!!

This project is unbelievably clever, catchy, delicate and omg.....the strings on many of these tracks are so Disney/Alice in Wonderland like, in a dreamy way.

Don’t Forget About Me, Ace & Blaxploitation are my favourites.

This is honestly my 2nd favourite hip hop album of the year so far.

This album ranks at 2nd place and is tied next to Kali Uchis’ Isolation and Sophie’s Oil Of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides

Telefone had a stronger ending compared to Room 25 as Bye Bye Baby & Shadow Man were exceptional, but that’s only around a quarter of the albums. The first three quarters, I think Room 25 is easily better than Telefone.

I really hope VMP do an exclusive on this album. Imagine having a vinyl listening session where you just lay in bed and play the VMP exclusive of Saba’s “Care for Me”, then the VMP exclusive for this album!!!

And OMG, imagine playing Blood Orange’s Negro Swan after! It would be the ultimate, reflective, dreamy, smooth listening session!

I’m ok, doing really well :)

I’m back :) I’ve been viewing the forum but just have been lazy to type anything because work and poor sleep patterns has been taking all of my energy!

Did you buy the Mr Bongo bundle? Seems right up your music taste alley Skalap? I can’t wait to own all 3 of them :)

Good to read you again! I didn't Tina'd the bundle. Mr Bongo's will be at the next Independent Labels Market in Paris in October. I'll buy a few standard releases from them there. Music is great though, did you Tina'd it?
