Been getting a lot of warped records lately. Often it really isn’t audible, at least to my ears. Not very satisfying, though, to watch the arm “bounce” up and down. For instance I’m listening to a new record now which is pretty warped, but it really sounds great (Dawes - Nothing Is Wrong).

But, what is the effect, other than the aesthetic/visual with warped records? Does it lead to quicker stylus wear? I’ma a bit tired of asking for replacement and sometimes it just isn’t possible, for instance when I buy on trips on the continent and such.

I don’t know about Stylus wear, but I do know that my Slight OCD kicks in and I get irked that my record isn’t in perfect condition.

Is there some proper "study" on that stylus that wear unevenly because of warps, or is it just somthing that has been lurking around without actual data to support it ?

I believe that as long as it's not skipping the stylus should be fine. It may do more damage to the record itself though from uneven wear but I'm not positive about that. Apparently not everything on the internet is true. Paging @HiFi Guy ...

I highly doubt that a warped album causes additional stylus wear. It possibly causes additional wear to the cartridge suspension. Maybe. Me? I'm not going to worry about it. Life is too short.
