    Hello there,

I will spend 10 days in Florida next September and I am already looking to things to do. I'll be there with my girlfriend and we had a look at the typical tourist things to do. We'll spend 2/3 days in the Keys, 1 in the Everglades, 1 in Naples, 2 in Sarasota (with stops in St Petersburg and Tampa) and finally 3 days in Miami.

We are a lot into music, street-art, food, beers - like everybody here I suppose? :) Do you guys have any suggestion to optimize the trip, secret spots to visit, bars (Woods Tavern seems nice), restaurants, hotels, flea markets, records shops (had a look at Sweat Records and Brooklyn Vintage & Vinyl), concert venues. Also, where can I find an agenda with the next concerts in town so I can follow up next announcements?

Here is our "road trip" :

Not from Florida, but I hear the top things to do are:

    1) Try not to get murdered
    2) Try not to get eaten by alligators
    3) Try not to drown in a swamp
    4) Try not to meet Pitbull

    Just pointing this out:

I'm not sure why you'd want to spend time in the Everglades. There's nothing there. It's a swamp. Your route is through what is called Alligator Alley. Also it's not the safest should your car suffer a breakdown. If you are going this route anyway, make sure your gas tank is full. There are rest areas and the signs tell you to beware of snakes. Florida has 5 poisonous varieties.

If you want to cross from west to east, the safe route is either:

Highway: Interstate 4 east to the Florida Turnpike south near Orlando. The Turnpike is a toll toad.

Scenic/Towns: FL Highway 60 east from Tampa to Vero Beach on the east coast. Should you go this route, make sure to stop at Crazy Fish in Lake Wales. Excellent food. Closed on Mondays.

Aren't the Everglades a nice place to discover a bit of the unique wildlife of this region? Or is the wildlife more concentrated in Miami Beach :barefoot: ?

Maybe if you took an Airboat tour. I've not done it.

If you want to see something truly amazing, make sure to go on a Snorkel boat in the Keys- try Key Largo, Islamorada or Marathon. They will take you out to the Coral Reef. The fish are stunning. Make sure to wear nothing shiny, because the sunlight flashing across jewelry will attract Barracuda. Not kidding.
    Not expensive.

Also, deep sea fishing there is one of my favorite things I've ever done. Chartering a boat is expensive but worth it. Every boat captain I've gone with has made sure we had a great time and I always caught something.

A few months late but I appreciate :) I enjoyed Wynwood and spent a couple of hours there. Was expecting more from Little Havana, it was too much directed to tourists imo. I didn't found any great record shop downtown but had a lot of stuff to do. Great city and great state, I spend a great vacations there.
