Went by Forever Records today but didn’t have a lot of time. Need to just take a list in there.
If anyone is going to SXSW and would like some really helpful grids a friend puts together through massive research let me know. Here's his site, Operation Every Band, I've written for OEB in past years but didn't this year.
Who's making it to the spring Austin Record Show? I really want to but with the Austin convention, RSD and the Dallas convention happening in quick succession I doubt I'll be able to afford it.
I'll be out of state for work most likely also missing out on RSD. I am sad but my bank account is crazy relieved.
anyone central going to Khruangbin in Austin this week?
Did anybody make it to the Dallas Convention yesterday? If so, any good scores?
I didn't get my shit together in time to set up there as a seller and the arrival of my 16 album VMP box convinced me I didn't need to spend any more money on records.
Yeah, I may skip RSD too. There are a handful releases I want but I'm losing my enthusiasm for the idea of getting up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday morning to stand in line for several hours.
@mdmost did George Dunham just call you an a-hole on the air?
@Ryan1310 Ha ha. Yeah. I hate his red dirt segments. He can't crap over what the P1s tune in for when he steals segment after segment with red dirt!
I mean, look at my give up user name
That was my initial thought...
hey cowboys, I'll be in Dallas in June.
any record shops to recommend?
Good Records, Doc's Records, Josey Records, Dreamy Life Records if you like Punk
All of the above mentioned plus Forever Young and a ton of Half Prices Books locations scattered around the metroplex. Doc's and Dreamy Life are both great but they're in Fort Worth -which is about an hour away from Dallas- so depending on your time and transportation constraints those may be harder to get to. If time is a factor, I'd focus on Josey and the big HPBs on Northwest Highway. If money is no object check out Forever Young.
Not a fan of Good Records?
They're ok, I just don't go there as much since Josey opened. I always thought Good Records was a bit over priced.
I've found the last few times I've gone to Good Records that they never have anything I want in stock. It's great if you want a new release but I've not found much there lately. Josey Records has filled the void.
There must be a subscriber who keeps selling VMP (and vmp related) records to the Plano Half Price Books. They've had a copy of the Wells Fargo lp there for months and yesterday I saw earlier pressings of the Ready To Die and Doggystyle in the collectibles case which I assume this theoretical member sold after getting the VMP versions.
Another day another batch of VMP releases showing up at a Half Price Books. Yesterday it was Hot Chip, Four Tet and Blessed Feathers at the Northwest Highway store.
Do the people selling these to HPB for next to nothing not know about ebay or discogs?
